Happy 2021!

Happy New Year! 2021! Finally an end to the hellhole that was 2020! How are we feeling? What even was last year?! Feels like the rug got pulled out from under us and now we’re on the floor looking around wondering what to do next. The good thing is that if you’re reading this, you survived, congrats!

Seems like there were a lot of ideas on what we could or should be doing with our shelter in place time, however, I would like to say that survival is a huge feat in itself. Last year was ROUGH to say the least, so if you didn’t pick up a side hustle, get your fitness regimen together, or get a promotion at work, THAT’S OK. So many of us lost so much last year, we should allow ourselves the time and grace to mourn whatever we lost, and give gratitude to what we still have.

During my holiday break, I was finally allowed to actually slow down and chill. I slept in, slowly enjoyed my morning coffee, and smothered my dog with hugs and kisses. I also got back into my yoga practice and did a yoga session almost every day. Slowing down allowed me to make space for new rituals in my life as well. I’ve continued to learn and practice my daily morning tarot reading, and learning about crystals and their energy properties. I’m becoming the wellness hippie lady I’ve always wanted to be haha! As someone who usually likes New Year’s resolutions, I’m trying something different this year and going to relieve pressure from myself as much as possible. The only goal or intention I set for myself this year was to do as little as possible, and whatever I do decide to act on will be things I truly love. Typically I’m such a go-getter and love to check things off long lists, but what if I didn’t have a list, or made the list as small as possible?

I also turned 30 during my holiday break on 12/30/2020 which made it my Golden year, and I really feel like a new woman! Having my birthday so close to New Year’s Eve always makes me feel really reflective naturally, so I looked back at all the changes I went through in the past 3 years during my Saturn Return and holy shit it was a lot! Since December 2017 I made 2 career changes, bought a house, got a dog, got engaged, COVID-19, lost my job, got married, got a new job, got on anti-depressants, and then launched this blog! And those are just the highlights! With all the monumental changes I’ve been through the last 3 years, I’m excited to slow down and make space for only the essentials in my life.

With all this being said, I’d like to encourage you to reflect and slow down as well. What would it look like if you also did as little as possible? What does that look like for you? What if you only did things that made you feel all the good and cozy feelings that are healthy for you?

Since last year was such a shit show, I want 2021 to feel way better. How about we #feelgood2021 ? That’s not to say that there won’t be hard times, but I want those inevitable hard times to be handled with love, self-compassion, and gratitude for the lessons learned along the way. Last year was hard, but this year can be different. Here’s to a happier and healthier 2021!
