The Honey Pot Co.
Ok chulas, this post is specifically for women who bleed, but even if you don’t identify with that, keep reading and maybe you’ll learn something!
A couple years ago I was introduced to the feminine product brand The Honey Pot Co. by Hey Fran Hey, and I was super excited to try it out for several reasons. Black woman-founded and owned, The Honey Pot Co are period products “made by humans with vaginas for humans with vaginas.” The part that intrigued me the most was how they are herbal infused with the essential oils, no synthetic ingredients, and are all clinically tested and approved by gynecologists.
Not only do they have period products, but they also have cleansing products to cleanse, protect, and balance your vagina, as well as products for expectant mothers and post-partum pads. Anything vagina related, they got you covered!
To be honest, I didn’t try The Honey Pot Co until recently because my IUD made my periods super light and irregular or didn’t have a period at all. Now that I switched back to the birth control pill my periods are more regular and a bit heavier, so I jumped on the chance to fully experience their line of products. Trying these products actually gave me something to look forward to with having my period, I knew that they were going to help make my period experience more pleasant and actually helped me embrace this new phase of my body more.
Of course I wanted to buy the whole shop, but I stuck to some basics and here is what I thought of them!
Aqui están, the 100% Organic Duo Pack Tampons. Since I wasn’t sure how heavy or light my periods were going to be, I figured I’d get the duo pack and see which ones would work best. What I love about these is that they’re organic cotton and have a BPA-free bioplastic applicator that’s derived from sugarcane. Tampons have always sort of freaked me out because of the plastic factor and how bad they are for the environment, and also because of the chlorine and other chemicals that are in them that we don’t even know about! WOOF! With Honey Pot Co., I know exactly what the tampons are made of and know that they’re environmentally friendly.
When I was younger, sleeping with my period gave me SO much anxiety. I was always so worried about leaks and ruining my sheets, I remember purposefully trying to fall asleep in very specific positions hoping that I wouldn’t leak at night. I cannot even tell you how much I wish these specific overnight pads existed when I was growing up.
When I put it on, I noticed how the pad provides FULL coverage, and they’re herbal infused! The first night I slept with this pad, I still tried to sleep on my side, but the soothing herbs really helped my cramps and the full coverage gave me the confidence to relax and sleep peacefully in my bed. These pads are for people with very heavy periods (note the number of droplets on the packaging), or if you don’t want to wear anything inside while you sleep. For me personally, I think I can get away with wearing their regular pads at night, but this was a great product for me to try.
Ok I saved my favorite product for last :) The herbal-infused liners are AMAZING! I use these the most frequently as a back up to tampons or diva cups during my heaviest days, and on my light days when a tampon or cup is too much. When I first put this on, I felt a…tingling… in my underwear. No, not that kind of tingling (ya nasty!) It was like a soothing minty spa in my pants lol! So unexpected, but oh so refreshing and all around pleasant like…aaaahhhhh. When my cramps were bad, these gals especially helped soothe and comfort my vulva and relaxed my body, even while in pain. Remember the Rhotos brand eyedrops? Imagine that minty cooling feeling but in your underwear. I honestly can’t talk these up enough, The Honey Pot Co. has truly made an amazing and powerful product and I don’t see myself stopping to use them anytime soon.
